As with many of us independent artists I have a full time job to pay the bills. For me that job is closely related to Hank Hill’s job, from King Of The Hill.
I work in the propane industry.
Well this past week something happened that made the war in Iraq hit close to home for me.
I went to do a gas service check at a house in the country outside Franklin, Tn, where some people had purchased this really nice house. Nothing fancy just a nice place.
I went to the door , and a lady answered the door, I’d say she was around 25 or thereabouts.
She invited me in. I followed her to the to the kitchen to check out her range.
There was a couple of men there, one at the kitchen table, and the other standing in the middle of the kitchen, and there was a little girl about 4 years old I’d say.
I didn’t pay much attention at first, and went about my business checking out the range. When I finished I asked the lady of the house to show me to the dryer, and that’s when I noticed the man standing had a walking stick, he was blind.
I finished with the dryer, and asked if they had any gas logs. I followed her to the basement, and as I checked out the logs, down on my knees in front of the fireplace, we began talking.
I could tell by the boxes all around they had just moved in.
I commented on their nice house, and she began telling me that they just moved in, that her husband had been in the service, and he had been stationed in Germany for eight years, and that’s where they met. She was an Army brat, and her father was also stationed in Germany. Her husband, and her had met, fell in love, got married, and had a little girl, all while stationed in Germany.
I said well at least your husband wasn’t stationed in Iraq, that’s when she said, Well actually, he had been stationed in Iraq, and that’s were he was when some type a flash weapon went off in his face, and now he is blind,
There on my knees in front of that fireplace, my heart sank. All I could say was “Oh my God, I’m so sorry. I asked her, Do you think he would mind if I thanked him for serving his country? She said, No that would be great.
When I finished down stairs, and climbed back up the steps, her husband was by himself sitting in the kitchen. I walked over and introduced myself, and said, Sir I’d like to thank you for serving your country, and laying your life on the line to protect freedom for all of us here.
He shook my hand, and said, Your welcome. As I finished my gas check on the rest on the rest of the house, all I could think about was how we go on about our daily lives here in America, giving little thought to the extreme sacrifice of our men, and women of our armed forces who are laying it all on the line for us, everyday, with no regard to the fact that they may be injured, or permanently disabled, or even killed to protect our freedom.
I prayed for this man, and the others like him who are still laying it all on the line for America.
We take our freedom so lightly here in America
I urge you to keep praying for our brave men, and women who are risking their lives everyday for us while serving our country. Not just in Iraq, but all around the world.
I know that a lot of people are down on President Bush for sending our troops to Iraq, but this country’s colors don’t run, never have, and never will. Freedom is not free. It costs, but these men and women, and our President deserve our respect, our honor, our prayers, and our support.
Not a bunch of whining when things don’t go as quickly, or exactly as we had hoped.
The President holds on office, that we, the American people, because of our freedom, voted him into. If you don’t respect the man, at least respect the office he holds, and continue to pray for him, and support him, and our troops! We could have a dictator like Sadam, thank God for our freedom, and thank God for men like this man who put his life on the line for us.
Keep on praying American. Without our prayers, We will not be one nation under God, but just one nation under.
This is one man’s humble opinion, and you may not agree, but thank God we live in America where we have the right to disagree. This is a great country, it’s not perfect, but there’s no other place on earth I’d rather live. God Bess you, our troops, our President, and God Bless America.

Don The Dragon Slayer: Part III, “The Great Deception”

Once Satan was kicked out of heaven to the earth, when is the next time we hear about him?
Well that would be the garden of Eden
God created man in His own image, and breathed the breathe of life into him. (You can read the account of this in chapter one of Genesis.), He made man a spiritual being, as Himself, that is God being a spiritual being. We are spiritual people housed in a human body. Therefore the answer to the age old question is answered here. Do we live on after our body is dead? The answer is yes, our spirit lives on to go into eternal life with Christ, if we receive Christ as our Lord & Savior, or into eternal death if we do not receive Him as Lord. This eternal death is not the same kind of death we as humans think of, because our bodies are mortal, and eventually will die, and return to the dust from which God made our human bodies from. In other words, our human bodies are just a house for our spirit to use while on this earth. Once we die a physical death your spirit lives on, and if you do not believe in Christ as savior, your spirit still exists, but you will go into eternal death. This is not the same kind of death we think of as humans, but is a spiritual death, or a separation from God & His presence in eternal hell.

Let me explain something here. Hell was never meant for humans, it was made for the devil, and his bad angels, & demons. We were never meant to go there, that’s why God provided a way for us not to go there thru His Son Jesus Christ at the cross, thru His death & resurrection. So eternal death is separation from God, but you say: God is omnipresent, He’s everywhere. That’s what makes hell so scary, because it’s a place God made for the punishment of the devil & his bunch where God deliberately, as chosen to with hold His presence from.
Well now let me regroup because I’ve kind of gotten ahead of myself here. Let’s get back to the garden of Eden.
God gave Adam rule over all the plants, and animals, and went so far as to allow Adam to give names to the animals. (Again you can read all about this in the first few chapters of Genesis).
God then looked around at all He had created, and saw it was good, but He could find no suitable helpmate for Adam among all He had created. God said, It is not good for man to be alone, so in Genesis Chapter 2: 21-25, God caused a deep sleep to come upon Adam, and took one of his ribs, and from that created the first woman (Eve). (Notice God did not create another man to be Adam’s helpmate, but a woman, and so the biblical pattern for a family was instituted by God Himself.) (Don’t get upset with me if you do not agree with this pattern of man & woman making up a family, it’s God’s doing, not mine.) Now the fact that she was created from Adam’s rib makes her, as the bible says, flesh of my flesh, and bone of my bone. In the institution of marriage, the two really do become one flesh. (This is why we were meant to only have sexual relations with our spouse, because it’s totally ignored in our society today does not make it any less so.) When a man & woman have intercourse the man enters the woman’s body, and the two become one flesh. You say you don’t believe that! Well then what is the normal result of having intercourse without man made protection? Pregnancy! The two come together, and as a result one flesh is created. A baby the has both the mother & fathers genes. This is the true culmination of becoming one flesh. Do not get mad at me if you do not agree with this, God’s the one who set it up this way! Well again I’ve wondered from the storyline, but these are important facts that we as a society today choose to ignore, and let me say this while I’m on the subject, God did not create man, and woman to be equals. Now that’s going to stir up some trouble, but let me explain as you can read in Genesis, they were created to be one together. Not one better, or smarter, or higher than the other, but one completing the other. Together they make up one flesh. Together they create a covenant to become one, each complimenting the other one.

Now then to get on with the story. Which is a true story I might add, only written thru my understanding of scripture. You may not agree with me, but that’s O.K. I’m not trying to make enemies, but disciples of Christ.
God gave Adam & Eve control over all of the garden of Eden, and told them they could eat of any of the fruit from the trees except the tree of the knowledge of good & evil. That is the only thing they were forbidden to do. They had it made in the shade, but they goofed up!
One day while Eve was alone in the garden, she was approached by the serpent(here he is, that old dragon, the Devil, or Satan.) Now bible scholars have suggested that the serpent walked upright at this time in history, and had the ability to speak. (I don’t pretend to be a scholar, but from reading the events in scripture it seems very possible to me that this was the case, which I’ll elude to further in the story.) The bible does say, The serpent being the craftiest of all the animals, came to Eve.
What did that old dragon the Devil do? The same thing he still tries to do today to all of us. He twisted God’s word for his own purpose, which is to deceive, and trick us into disobeying God’s word.
The bible says, (Again you can read the account of this in Genesis chapter three.) He deceived Eve, by trying to confuse her, and twist God’s word, by saying, Did God really say you could not eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good & evil? He said, the real reason God doesn’t want you to eat of it is, because if you do you will become like God, and her eyes would be opened, and they would become like God. (That’s why Satan got kicked out of heaven, because he wanted to be like God.), so now he tempts Eve to do the same thing, and what’s bad is she believes him, and eats of the fruit. Then she took some to Adam, and he also ate of it, only he wasn’t deceived, he willing disobeyed God.
Once they both ate of the fruit their eyes were opened to the fact that they were naked, what happened? Sin is what happened, they disobeyed God, and sin entered the world, not thru Eve, for she was deceived, but thru Adam because he was not deceived, but he disobeyed God willingly. He used his own will to make a decision to willingly disobey God, that’s why sin entered the world thru Adam’s disobedience to God. So therefore, that is why every person that is be born into this world is born with the sinful nature of Adam. The worst part was that by doing this Adam gave up his rule over this earth to who? You guessed it. Satan, That’s why sin running wild in this world today, because to a degree Satan has the control that was given to him by Adam, but wait, God had a plan to make a way for man to get back to Him.
He told Adam that he would be cursed all the days of his life, and would have to toil to make his way in this world. (Thank Adam for the fact that you have to work to make a living.) He told Eve she would struggle in child birth for her part in all of this. Lastly He told the serpent he would crawl on his belly from here on out, thus modern day snakes crawl on their bellies. (This is why some scholars believe that the serpent originally walked upright.), but lastly God told Satan that the seed of the woman would crush his head, and Satan would strike this man’s heel.
Satan did not know it at the time, but God was referring to the birth of Jesus, being born of a woman, conceived by the Holy Spirit, thus the virgin birth, and Jesus being born without sin, because He was not conceived from Adam, therefore He had no sinful nature, and no sin. He was born both God, and man!

The Adventures of Don The Dragon Slayer Part II

Once upon a time in a Kingdom called Heaven, there was a great uprising, a mighty rebellion against the Great One who created all things, and some of His created beings known as angels. The rebellion was lead by an angel called Lucifer. Now Lucifer was a beautiful angel, because he was created to worship God, day and night before the throne of God, he even had built in pipes to play music, and sing praises to God. One day Lucifer decided that he was way to beautiful to serve God, He decided his magnificence was so great that he would become like God.
( Isaiah 14:13 You said in your heart, "I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. 4 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.")

 There was a great war in heaven, and God the Father, expelled Satan, known as Lucifer, ( Ezekiel 28:12b, 'You were the model of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. 13 You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone adorned you: ruby, topaz and emerald, chrysolite, onyx and jasper, sapphire, turquoise and beryl. Your settings and mountings were made of gold; on the day you were created they were prepared. 14 You were anointed as a guardian cherub, for so I ordained you. You were on the holy mount of God; you walked among the fiery stones. 15 You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you. 16 Through your widespread trade you were filled with violence, and you sinned. So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God, and I expelled you, O guardian cherub, from among the fiery stones. 17 Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. So I threw you to the earth; I made a spectacle of you before kings.)

Revelation 12: (New International Version) 3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on his heads. 4 His tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that he might devour her child the moment it was born. 5 She gave birth to a son, a male child, who will rule all the nations with an iron scepter. And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne. 6 The woman fled into the desert to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be taken care of for 1,260 days. 7 And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. 9 The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him),

 and yes the angels that followed him in his rebellion against The Mighty God of heaven, who had created them. One third of the angels followed Satan, so God the Father kicked them out of heaven , and threw them down to earth. Once on earth Lucifer, who was now known as Satan, or the Devil, tried to set up his kingdom here. God created man, and woman in the garden of Eden. (You can read the whole account of this in Genesis chapter:1, 2, 3) God told them they could eat of any fruit in the garden except the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good, and evil. God gave Adam rule over all living things, animals, and plants. [Genesis 1:28 (New International Version) 28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." 29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food." And it was so.] The serpent (that old dragon the devil) came to Eve, and enticed her to eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good, and evil, by telling her a lie, that it would make her like God, so she ate, and gave some to her husband Adam. They disobeyed God, and through that disobedience brought sin, and death to the whole world, and relinquished their rule over the earth to that old dragon Satan. (You can read the entire account of the fall of man in Genesis chapter 3. ) In Genesis 3:14, God told the serpent(the Devil), that He would send a man to crush his head, or in other words, to defeat him. God fulfilled that prophecy by sending His only Son, Jesus Christ. He was born of a virgin,[Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel(Jesus)], and because He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, [ Matthew 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.], sin was not passed on to Him, because sin came through Adam,[Romans 5:12 [ Death Through Adam, Life Through Christ ] Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned—](You can read all about this in Romans chapter 5). Therefore since sin was not passed onto Him, He was born without sin, and because Mary conceived of the Holy Spirit of God, Jesus was born not only man, but also God. He is therefore God, and man.(to be continued)

First let me introduce myself, I'm Contemporary Christian Artist, and songwriter Don Tipton a.k.a. The Dragon Slayer, well actually I'm a child of the ultimate Dragon Slayer, Jesus Christ, he defeated that old serpent the devil, when he rose from the grave, and he has given me authority over that old dragon, and his dominions. He has given me authority to cast out demons in His name, to lay hands on the sick, and they recover, and to handle serpents(and Dragons), and they will not harm me, for greater is He who is in me then he that is in the world(the devil). Now that you know who I am let me tell you how the first dragon was slain in my life. The dragon of unbelief in the risen Savior Jesus Christ. In the presence of the Lord there is victory, and deliverance, and more. So this is the story of how he first came to faith in Christ the ultimate dragon slayer! --------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi! My name is Don Tipton, and I was born, and raised in central Ohio, by my mom, and step dad. I went to a small high school with only about eighty people in the graduating class. I starting playing the guitar when I was about thirteen years old, thanks to my Uncle Howard, who taught me a few chords on the guitar. I got an acoustic guitar for Christmas, that year, and I played for hours at a time, mostly country music at that time, because thats all my parents listened too. When I got into high school, I was introduced to rock and roll music. My best friend, Al, was learning to play the electric guitar, so we decided to start a band, American Destiny, and the rest is history. We played together in several bands in the next few years, and after graduation. We played at high schools, then graduated to the night club scene. I started hanging around with the wrong crowd, and they got me into drinking and, doing drugs, mainly just smoking pot to begin with, but then pills, uppers, downers, and then on to LSD. Don't ever let anyone tell you that pot does not lead to harder drugs, because I know it does from experience. Pot gives you a false sense of security so that you begin to believe, if it didn't hurt me, then other drugs won't hurt me. Wrong!!!!!!! After awhile I met my wife. She had heard from a friend of hers about these guys that played music on acoustic guitars. (That being me and my friend Rick. ) We liked to play and sing easy listening stuff like Jim Croce, Cat Stevens, Loggins & Messina, and some songs that I had written. We were doing this apart from the band I was in. One night she invited Rick and I to come and play our music at her house. She had invited several of her friends to come and listen to us. Well to make a long story short, we started dating, fell in love and got married. She loved me the way I was, long haired pot smoking rock and roller, even though she was not into all that, she was basically a good little Catholic girl. Not long after we were married, she became pregnant with our first child, a little girl, the first of four girls I might add. Well I knew if I was going to be a father I had to get my act together and straighten up. The band (Magic Mountain) split up after awhile, and I had to get a real job. I was driving a taxi cab from three oclock in the afternoon until three in the morning. I was trying to stop doing drugs, but Id always have my old friends around to make sure I kept doing them. I had quite smoking cigarettes, but every time I turned around, one of my old buddies would pop into the cab, at the cab stand with a joint, or something. Finally I realized the only way I was going to change and be a good role model for my child was to get away from my old friends. ( Sometimes getting away from old worldly friends is the only way to get on with your life. I know it's a difficult decision to make ,but God will bless you with new friends, Godly ones. ) Well my wifes parents had moved to Dayton, Ohio, so I decided the best way to clean up my life was to get a new start somewhere else. Some place where my friends couldnt keep dragging back into my old life style. So we moved to Dayton, actually Fairborne, Ohio. I still remember the night I dumped my last nickle bag of of pot down the toilet, and flushed it, and my old life away, for good! I was determined I was going to be a good father, and role model to my little girl. Little did I know, God was already working on me. I got a job as a security guard in an old closed down cement factory, the graveyard shift. Well having the graveyard shift was really boring, the most excitement Id get was once, and a while Id catch a couple trying to park and make out, and Id have to run them off. I started reading cheap novels to occupy my time. One night I ran out of cheap novels , and I didnt have the money to purchase one. When I arrived at work that night I started checking around the old cement factory, inside some of the foremans offices, and old lockers, to see if I could find something to read. Well, finally I came across an old King James bible in one of the desks. I began to read it, and read it, and read it some more. I was devouring Gods word. Night after night I would read God's word. I never even bought another cheap novel, I just kept reading the bible. I wasn't raised in church so all of this stuff was new to me, and I was drawn to it. I couldn't put it down! I started listening to a Christian program on the radio, called Outreach, from California. One night while I was listening, they offered a free bible, ( The New American Standard ), so I sent off to get it. When it arrived, they had sent a tract along with it. At the back of the tract was the sinners prayer. So right there in the old dirty factory, I spread a piece of newspaper on the floor. I got down on my knees, and I asked Jesus to come into my life, and you know what? He did, and after that all I could do was eat, sleep and drink Jesus. Studying His word and sharing Him with anyone who would listen. I went to bed thinking about Jesus, and I got up thinking about Jesus. I ate, slept, and drank Jesus, 24- 7. So one night after some old friends (Jack & Karolyn) had come to visit us for the weekend, and we spent the whole evening talking about Jesus, (because as it turned out while God was working on me, He'd also been working on them), they knew us from our days in Chillicothe, Ohio, but had since moved to Michigan were Jack's dad was the Pastor of a Lutheran Church. That night after we went to bed, my wife whispered to me, I don't know what you all got, but if it gives you this much joy, and peace, and excitement, I want it too. So we knelt beside our bed, and prayed, and she received Christ as her Savior that night. It was great! As our friends left that Sunday, they jokingly said, If we find you a job in Michigan (the Detroit area), will you move up there with us? We said sure why not, never dreaming it would really happen. Little did we know what God had planned for us. A few weeks later they called, and said, we found you a job here, hanging drywall with a man from our church. Will you come? Well after some deep consideration, and prayer we said, Yes. We packed up our little girl, and our stuff, and moved to Michigan, by this time my wife was pregnant with our second child. The first night we got there, it was a Sunday, our friends wanted us to come to their Sunday night church service. It was held at a local college, and Jack's Dad, who had been a Lutheran minister in the area there, had gotten baptized in the Holy Spirit, and was promptly asked to resign as Pastor of the Lutheran church were he had been for a couple of years. His name is, Pastor Harvey D., one of the most Godly men I have ever known, and it was my pleasure to be taught the Word of God by him for almost twenty years. He taught as to just be. Just be, you say? What does that mean? Well, it means to just be what God has already said you are in His Word, over comers, more than conquerors, healed by His stripes, having everything you need for life, and Godliness, dead to sin, and alive to God through Christ Jesus, in other words just walk in what God has already declared you to be in His Word, and through the death, and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. I'd like to take this time to personally thank Pastor Harvey D. for all he has done for us over the years, his teaching, his faithfulness to God, his being a vessel to meet the spiritual, and physical needs of God's people. Be assured of this! Your reward in Heaven will be great. Thank You, Pastor D! We love you, and miss you! Well, he was starting a charismatic church called, Macomb Christian Community Center. They were meeting at the college that night, so we went. When the music started playing,(My friend Jack was in the worship band), and we began worshiping, and praising God, both myself, and my wife just looked at each other, and knew we were where we were supposed to be. God had brought us here for a purpose, we were home. For a number of years, until he retired, we sat at the feet of Pastor D., and were taught the Word of God . I joined the worship team, and grew up there, and so did our children. The drywall job didn't last very long, so then I got a job working for a propane company shortly after we arrived in Michigan, and I spent twenty years there. This whole time God was blessing me with songs. My friend, Jack, and I played in two different Christian bands while I lived there. One was called "The Promise Land Band", and the other was called "Compassion". We played all original material that either I wrote, or a few songs were written by Jack. I enjoyed it very much, and hopefully we touched some lives with our music. After Pastor D. retired, we decided to move to Nashville, Tn., and try, and get some of the music the Lord had given me, recorded. So after much prayer, we decided to step out in faith, and move to Nashville. I was able to transfer to Nashville, through my work at the propane company, because they had a location here. So we left all our friends (including our best friends, sorry Jess & Pat, we love you, and miss you), and some of our family, and we took the leap of faith. We've been here a number of years now. We go to a little church called, The Father's House Church, in LaVergne ,Tn. Our Pastor is: Dr. Bobby H., and we love going there, it is now our new spiritual home. I am busy with my music, and my first CD, "HOLY FIRE!" , has just been released. Mark 15He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." 19After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. 20Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.
